The rebinding of Audubon’s 'Birds of America'
The oversize volumes required a team of bookbinders
Ready for display
Following the rebinding, all four volumes were returned to the Royal Library.
The new flexible bindings enable the volumes to be safely used and displayed as one of the treasures of the Royal Collection. The first volume to be rebound was shown to the President of the United States, Barack Obama, on the occasion of his State Visit to the United Kingdom in May 2011.
