FRANZ XAVER WINTERHALTER (1805-73)

Queen Victoria (1819-1901)

1847

RCIN 400885

This portrait of Queen Victoria, shown wearing her wedding wreath, as well as the brooch that was a gift the day before the wedding from Prince Albert. Victoria wore the brooch on her wedding day, and it remained a favoured piece of her jewelery.

The painting itself was a surprise present for their wedding anniversary from Prince Albert, and was placed in the Prince's Dressing Room at Windsor Castle.
