Princess Beatrice (1857-1944) in her wedding dress, July 23 1885

1885

RCIN 2905683

Following the photograph if Princess Alexandra in her wedding dress, it became a regular feature for royal brides to be photographed in their dresses. Princess Beatrice was the youngest of Queen Victoria's children. Her marriage, to Prince Henry of Battenberg in 1885, was difficult for the Queen, who only formally consented on the condition that the married couple remain with her, and that Beatrice continued to act as her mother's unofficial secretary.
