Wedding favour made to celebrate the marriage of the Duke and Duchess of York, 6 July 1893

1893

RCIN 55068

A wedding favour to celebrate the marriage of the Duke and Duchess of York (the future King George V and Queen Mary) in the Chapel Royal at St James's Palace.

On the day of the wedding, many children were invited to watch the procession at the home of Baroness Angela Burdett-Coutts, a notable philanthropist and one of the richest women in Britain at the time. All were presented with hand-made wedding favours like this one. They would have had an excellent view from her house in Stratton Street, overlooking Piccadilly.
