Prince Leopold, Duke of Albany was the youngest son of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. In 1882 he married Princess Helena of Waldeck and Pyrmont at St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle.

To mark the occassion, that evening, a torchlit procession through the grounds of Windsor castle spelt out an 'A' for Albany. The artisit, Sir Richard Rivington Holmes was the Royal Librarian at Windsor Castle.
