The Royal Collections includes works of art not only by the immediate families of George III and Queen Victoria but also prints, watercolours and drawings by their royal relations across Great Britain and Europe, such as Princess Caroline of Great Britain (1713-1757) and Leopold I, King of the Belgians (1790-1865).

Many of the works here were sent as gifts. It was common for members of the royal family to send each other works of art, not only for important events or dates but also as part of a regular correspondence, such as the many watercolours sent to Queen Victoria by her older half-sister, Princess Feodora of Leiningen (1807-1872) after her marriage in 1828.

Royal Collection Trust is a charity caring for the Royal Collection, one of the world’s great art collections. Income from your visit helps us to conserve and share the Collection so that it can be enjoyed by everyone, wherever they are.
