Yabba pot

2002

RCIN 200000

Yabba pots have been used in Jamaica for food preparation and storage since the seventeenth century. In honour of Queen Elizabeth II's Golden Jubilee in 2002, a crown was incorporated into the design of this pot. White slip (liquid clay) gives the stoneware a pale, creamy colour.

Jamaica was first stop on Queen Elizabeth II's 2002 Golden Jubilee tour, which also included Australia and New Zealand. The pot was presented by the Governor-General of Jamaica, Sir Howard Felix Cooke.
