The Lenox China Company was founded by Walter Scott Lenox (1859-1920) in 1889. The firm took its current name in 1906 and from that date began manufacturing tableware services of exclusive design. Following production of the first American presidential dinner service for Woodrow Wilson in 1918, the company continued to supply china for the White House throughout the twentieth century.
