This papahou is carved with two lizards with mother-of-pearl shell eyes. 

It was presented to Queen Elizabeth II at the National Māori Welcome at Gisborne on 22 March 1970. On that occasion, the queen wore the kiwi feather cloak given to her on her first visit to New Zealand in 1954.
