Lacquer plate and stand

circa 2009

RCIN 99541

The vibrant design of this plate symbolises the variety and splendour of Mexico's wildlife, which is among the most diverse in the world. The country harbours a significant proportion of all the known species on earth, and is recognised by Conservation International as one of seventeen ‘megadiverse’ countries.

The plate was given to Queen Elizabeth II by the President of Mexico, Felipe Calderón, during his State Visit to the United Kingdom in March 2009
