Two people looking at paintings on a wall.
The Picture Gallery at Buckingham Palace runs through the heart of the Palace and displays masterpieces by Vermeer, Rembrandt, Rubens, Van Dyck, Caravaggio, Canaletto, Zoffany and many others. The room has continually changed to reflect royal tastes, from George IV’s emphasis on Dutch and Flemish art to Queen Victoria and Prince Albert’s refinements, including new wall colours, innovative framing schemes and glazing to protect paintings from the London smog.

Watch our film to explore the remarkable 2026 rehang of the Picture Gallery, which has increased the number of paintings on view, and learn more about some of the masterpieces on display.
