State Banquets at Windsor Castle
Windsor Castle is still very much a working royal palace and is regularly used for ceremonial and State occasions, including official visits from overseas Heads of State. St George’s Hall makes a spectacular setting for a State Banquet, when a table seating 160 guests is decorated with porcelain and silver-gilt from the Royal Collection.
The 50m long table runs the whole length of the room. The monarch and Head of State sit in the centre of the table and musicians play from the balcony at the end of the Hall.
Watch our film to discover how the State Banquet table is meticulously prepared in St George’s Hall - a process that takes five full days to complete.
