This watercolour records an episode during the state visit to Paris: the Queen and her companions can be seen arriving in the royal box at the right. Diéterle, who had trained as a stage designer, painted the architecture, and the society painter Lami was responsible for the figures.

Included in an album presented to Queen Victoria by the Emperor Napoleon III and the Empress Eugénie at Christmas 1855
