The author of this text, Amir Ali Khan (1810–80), was the legal and financial advisor to Wajid Ali Shah after his deposition. His autobiography gives a favourable analysis of the British rise to power in India. Although printed, it mimics the traditional layout and decoration of a manuscript. The author presented the book to Queen Victoria in 1871.
