DANIEL SEGHERS (ANTWERP 1590-ANTWERP 1661)

A Cartouche Embellished with a Garland of Flowers

1640-49

RCIN 405617

By comparing this painting to A Relief Embellished with a Garland of Roses, we can see the extent of Seghers’s input. He completed every part except the religious figure in the centre. In this example, Seghers may have intended the owner to select his own artist to complete the painting.
