Voyages through the continent of North America to the Frozen and Pacific oceans in the years 1789 and 1793

In 1792–3, the fur trapper, Alexander Mackenzie led the first east-west expedition across North America north of Mexico. This expedition was a remarkable achievement. Using canoes to venture up rivers high into the Rocky Mountains, Mackenzie, accompanied by two Indigenous guides and six voyageurs, crossed the mountains and reached the Pacific Ocean in July 1793.
