Google Art Talk

In collaboration with the Google Art Project, Royal Collection Trust presents our first online #ArtTalk, recorded live on Monday, 22 July 2013, looking at the powerful portrait, The Man in Red, one of the most enigmatic sixteenth century portraits in the Royal Collection.

The talk explores the possible identities of the subject of this painting and brings together expert curators and conservators with dress and textile historians to explore the clues within the painting, and consider the most likely candidates.

Guests include:

  • Lucy Whitaker, Senior Curator of Paintings at Royal Collection Trust
  • Professor Maria Hayward historian and expert in clothing at the Tudor Courts
  • Mary Kempski, painting conservator
  • Charlotte Bolland, Curator for the Making Art in Tudor Britain project at the National Portrait Gallery
  • Jenny Tiramani, award winning costume designer and Director of the School of Historical Dress

The income from your ticket contributes directly to The Royal Collection Trust, a registered charity. The aims of The Royal Collection Trust are the care and conservation of the Royal Collection, and the promotion of access and enjoyment through exhibitions, publications, loans and educational activities.
