In the conservation studios of Windsor Castle, eight beautiful drawings by Annibale Carracci were conserved to ensure their long-term preservation before travelling to an exciting exhibition at the Louvre. These drawings joined other surviving Carracci drawings from collections across Europe, offering visitors and scholars a rare opportunity to explore the evolution of his ideas from sketches to full-scale cartoons.

Together with his brother Agostino and cousin Lodovico, Annibale Carracci transformed Bologna, Italy, into a vibrant centre of 17th‑century art.
