The Garden Café is situated on the West Terrace of Buckingham Palace, just beyond the exit from the State Rooms. Take a moment to relax and enjoy views over the famous Palace lawn and lake.

Our seasonal menu celebrates the best of the British summer, offering freshly prepared sandwiches, bagels, and salads, iced coffees, summer drinks and strawberries and cream. Highlights include coronation chicken seeded rolls, smoked salmon and cream cheese bagels, and our Garden Lunch Boxes, featuring lemon and thyme chicken Caesar salad alongside our Plant Power salad with quinoa and lentils.

This year’s pâtisserie selection features freshly baked Queen of Puddings, a classic English dessert of lemon and vanilla custard, raspberry jam, and delicate burnt meringue, alongside English strawberry and ginger coronation trifle and much more.

The Garden Café caters to a wide range of dietary requirements.

Garden Café opening times are:

  • July and August: 10:00 – 19:00 (takeaway only from 19:00 - 19:15)
  • September: 10:00 – 18:00 (takeaway only from 18:00 – 18:15 )

Afternoon Tea at Buckingham Palace

Enjoy Afternoon Tea in our limited-edition keepsake tins. 

Indulge in a selection of finger sandwiches including smoked salmon, pulled ham with pickle, and truffled free-range egg mayonnaise. 

Earl Grey scones, lemon drizzle loaf cake, apricot Bakewell tart, and Guinness red velvet cake, all served with your choice of tea or coffee, and the option of English sparkling wine or Buckingham Palace gin and tonic. 

There is no need to book in advance for Afternoon Tea, but you can pre-order your tin by adding it on when you buy your Buckingham Palace tickets.

Ice cream in the Buckingham Palace Garden

As you make your way along the garden path towards the exit, discover our ice cream parlour serving indulgent, plant-based vanilla soft serve which is both gluten-free and palm oil-free. Also choose from a selection of ice cream sundaes.

Ice cream parlour opening times are:
