    Every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday (24 Apr 2026 - 4 Dec 2026)
  • First Level, Second Level
  • Expressive Arts
  • During this workshop, pupils will have the opportunity to visit our new exhibition The Edwardians: Age of Elegance at The King’s Gallery, Edinburgh, and be inspired to take part in an art workshop.

From Queen Alexandra’s Coronation dress, embroidered with the national flowers of Britain, to an illustrated storybook designed by William Morris, we’ll take a closer look at how artists and craftsmen have been inspired by nature to create beautiful designs.

Back in the classroom, led by an artist, pupils will create their own illuminated letter, working from plants collected in the Physic Garden and using a variety of materials, including printmaking tools and metallic paints, to create their own artwork.

Visit includes access to: The King's Gallery, Edinburgh and the Abbey Strand Centre

    Facilitated workshop lasts: 2 hours

Please note that this session will not be available on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 8 September to 4 December 2026.
