Shakespeare at Windsor - An onsite trail for children

Generations of monarchs, since Elizabeth I, have enjoyed the work of Britain’s greatest dramatist. Of course, some of Shakespeare’s plays were written with performance at the royal court in mind.

The First Folio is one of the great wonders of the literary world. Published in 1623, seven years after the death of its author, it was the first printed edition of Shakespeare’s collected plays.  Without this achievement, we would have lost half of his dramatic work. Folio400 celebrates the 400th birthday of this volume, the first printed edition of Shakespeare’s collected plays. (2023) A copy of the First Folio and other annotated folios are heldwithin the Royal Library at Windsor Castle.
