Musical compositions

This collection consists of manuscript and printed music composed by Prince Albert (1819-61) during the period c.1838 to 1853. His compositions were mainly vocal with instrumental accompaniment, their subjects both sacred and secular.

Much of his manuscript material, including working copies, is now held by the British Library, but the Royal Library holds copies of his Te Deum, the large choral piece Invocazione all’Armonia, and some of his more personal compositions, written during his engagement to Queen Victoria (1839-40), including Der Orangenzweig and Dem Fernen.
