Chartists and the 'working classes'

A collection consisting of two of Prince Albert’s (1819-61) files relating specifically to the Chartists, and more broadly to the ‘condition of the working classes’.

One file consists of correspondence regarding the Chartist movement, and in particular, reactions to the demonstration held at Kennington Common on 10 April 1848. The other file mostly contains correspondence regarding the Servants’ Provident & Benevolent Society and their association with the Savings Banks Bill.
