This digital event will be livestreamed via our YouTube channel. Unlike for our other digital events, there is no need to reserve a ticket in advance. Watch the video live or catch up on the Royal Collection Trust YouTube channel.

Join us for this online discussion as we celebrate LGBTQ+ History Month 2026. In this event, Alice de Quidt, Assistant Curator of Prints and Drawings, will be joined by acclaimed British painter and art educator Sadie Lee.

Together, our speakers will explore a selection of artworks from the Royal Collection that inspire and intrigue them. Through their own stories and reflections, Alice and Sadie will share how art has shaped their work and lives and reflect on themes of identity, self-expression and art’s power to reflect and transform who we are.

The event will conclude with a live Q&A. Click here to submit your question during the event and our speakers will answer as many possible.
Please note: the Q&A will only open on the day of the event.

    About our Speaker:

Sadie Lee is an award-winning British painter whose work explores gender, sexuality, and identity through bold, figurative portraits. Her art has been exhibited internationally, including at the National Portrait Gallery and the Schwules Museum in Berlin. Alongside her own practice, Sadie is a passionate art educator, teaching life-drawing classes at The Wallace Collection and serving as Course Pathway Leader for the Contemporary Portrait BA at The Art Academy. She hosted the Queer Perspectives programme at the National Portrait Gallery for thirteen years, celebrating LGBTQ+ voices in art, and continues to host the annual Queer Takeover event at The Wallace Collection.

Royal Collection Trust is a charity caring for the Royal Collection, one of the world’s great art collections. Income from your visit helps us to conserve and share the Collection so that it can be enjoyed by everyone, wherever they are.
