Join us for a one-day, exclusive hand embroidery class marking the centenary of Queen Mary's Dolls' House. This class will be held at Windsor Castle and students will also be treated to an expert-led private view of the Dolls’ House.

The miniature stately eighteenth-century style bed in the King’s Bedroom of the Dolls’ House was made by the Royal School of Needlework and donated by their founder, Princess Christian (the mother of Princess Marie Louise). The bed is upholstered in pink and green silk with a quilt of pale gold and silk brocade which inspired RSN Tutor Helen McCook’s beautiful design.

During the day you will learn appliqué, satin stitch, silk shading, how to couch and secure metal threads, open fly stitch and applying faux pearl and diamantés. These skills will all come together to create a beautiful Tudor rose set within a decorative quatrefoil.

This class is suitable for all levels of skill from beginner to advanced. Included in the ticket cost is your embroidery kit, which will include everything you require to complete the project. You may like to bring your own magnifiers but please do not bring scissors as you will be able to borrow ring frames and scissors on the day.

The income from your ticket contributes directly to The Royal Collection Trust, a registered charity. The aims of The Royal Collection Trust are the care and conservation of the Royal Collection, and the promotion of access and enjoyment through exhibitions, publications, loans and educational activities.
