Join Daniel Haynes, Assistant Curator of Books and Manuscripts, as he explores how elegance and opulence shaped the Edwardian library. At the turn of the twentieth century, book arts in Britain underwent an extraordinary revival inspired by Arts and Crafts sensibilities and a wealth of visionary bookbinders, calligraphers, engravers, and illuminators. Royal collectors from King Edward VII to Queen Mary acquired and commissioned many of the finest books produced during these energetic, pre-war years.
