Browse through a special selection of videos, activities and trails that highlight fascinating objects in the Royal Collection and give historical insights into royal palaces. At a time when many of us would have been going on holiday, we invite you to take a trip with us around the world through objects in the Royal Collection. Each week we will visit a new country to explore must-see landmarks and explore its history of royal visits. Each country will be brought to life through decorative objects, paintings and photographs in the comfort of your own home.

On the final stop of our tour we are exploring the Indian Subcontinent through the current exhibition Eastern Encounters: Four Centuries of Paintings and Manuscripts from the Indian Subcontinent. Discover the Mughal court, brought to life by intricate illuminated manuscripts, stunning paintings and poetry, and immerse yourself in a world of beauty, splendour and art. With modern poetry by celebrated poet Imtiaz Dharker and our final Mystery Object there is a lot to explore.

We hope you have enjoyed your travel adventures with us as much as we have enjoyed sharing the stories with you.

Eastern Encounters is open now at the Queen’s Gallery, Palace of Holyroodhouse, Edinburgh. The exhibition and all accompanying events will be managed in line with COVID-secure procedures.
