Camel late eighteenth century
RCIN 10838
This set of eighteenth century brass military figures was commended for their skilful modelling and expression. These individually cast figures belong to a larger set that were reputedly commissioned by the Raja of Peddapuram based on the advice of his astrologer to review his troops daily without any bloodshed. When they were displayed at various locations, they were praised for graphically illustrating 'the whole gamut of military swagger in men and beast'.
