A soldier stands to the right holding a long stick. There is a flagpole on the ridge behind him to the right. Cathcart's Hill, named after the grave of General Cathcart, was the main cemetery for British soldiers killed during the Crimean War. It was also used as an observation point as from it commanders could view the progress of the Siege of Sevastopol.
