The end of the battle was marked by the meeting of Blücher and Wellington in front of La Belle Alliance, at around 9pm. This romanticised image shows Wellington gesturing towards the retreating French troops. At the meeting, it was decided that Blücher’s men would pursue the French. They were able to capture Napoleon’s carriage, but not Napoleon himself.
