Denis Dighton’s print of the Prince Regent, made four years before Waterloo, presents him as a martial hero. In fact the Prince was forbidden from a military career by his father and held only honorary army posts, much to his frustration. He pursued his interests instead by collecting numerous prints and drawings of military scenes. As the British head of state in 1815, he garnered much praise for the victory.
