Set of plates with scenes of the battlefield

These plates (RCIN 10884.1-8) show the strategic landmarks on the battlefield of Waterloo, including the fortified farmhouse of Hougoumont which became the most significant defensive point for the allied armies. The plates were commissioned by the Prince Regent as part of a breakfast service – one of many commemorative works of art with which he celebrated victory over Napoleon. 1.
