Carl Graeb’s sunset view of Potsdam, framed by trees at left and right, is atmospheric and romantic. It was a present from Prince Albert to Victoria at Christmas in 1858. During their stay in Germany earlier that summer, the Queen recorded in her journal that ╩╗Potsdam lit up by the setting sun looked splendid’.
