The drawing of Jenny Lind, the ‘Swedish nightingale’, records just one of the sixteen performances of her London debut season, all of which were attended by the Queen. As well as commissioning works from other artists, the Queen produced her own drawings of operas she had seen. These sketches were mounted in a series of albums called the ‘Souvenirs de l’Opera’. The famous baritone Luigi Lablache was the Queen’s beloved singing teacher.
