Haghe depicts Charles Kean’s Macbeth, which was shown at Windsor Castle ten days before it opened to wide acclaim in London. Mrs Charles Kean is seen as Lady Macbeth, in the sleepwalking scene from Act V. The Queen was delighted by the play and attended the London performance on several occasions.
