    Princess Victoria’s Journal, 2 August 1832

    RA VIC/MAIN/QVJ/1832

‘This book, Mamma gave me, that I might write the journal of my journey to Wales in it’.

Thus the 13-year old Princess (later Queen) Victoria began this first volume of her Journal in 1832, starting a habit that would last until her death in 1901.

141 volumes of Queen Victoria’s Journals are preserved in the Royal Archives and all can be explored online at www.queenvictoriasjournals.org.
