? GEORGE AUGUSTUS SCHULTZ (ACTIVE 1734-49)

Map of the Netherlands, c.1745

c.1745 or later

RCIN 729062

This delicate drawing is based on a tracing taken from an earlier printed map of Brabant. It was made by ‘Schultz’, engineer to the Duke of Cumberland, who was with the duke in Flanders in 1745. Schultz has worked up his tracing to give detail to the area in which the duke and his troops were camped. The drawing is a fascinating example of the process used by Cumberland’s draughtsmen in creating military maps and plans. King’s Military Map Collection Cat. 48
