Set of ten armchairs

These chairs, with their rich upholstery and elaborate scroll legs carved with upturned faces, are typical of the grander seat furniture produced in Rome in the late Baroque period. They are part of a set of ten purchased for Windsor Castle by George IV in 1827 for £18 18s each. Acquired by George IV
