A skilfully executed and accurate copy of a portrait of Maria Feodorovna painted in Russia for Queen Victoria. On first meeting the Princess in 1873, Queen Victoria described the sitter in her Journal as ‘quite different [to Alexandra her sister], with fine brown eyes’.
