Eagle brooch

1839-40

Silver, turquoise, pearls, rubies, diamonds | 3.7 x 4.6 x 1.8 cm (whole object) | RCIN 65320

Victoria and Albert presented each of their bridesmaids with one of these brooches, made to the designs of Prince Albert. The silver core of the brooch is set with turquoises and pearls to represent true love, the ruby eye is for passion, and the diamonds on the beak are for eternity.
