    On the day before the wedding Queen Victoria presented Princess Alexandra with the badge of the Order of Victoria and Albert. The Princess wore it pinned to her shoulder on her wedding day. The badge incorporates the profile portraits of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, who had died in 1861.
