A new beginning
Victoria moved into Buckingham Palace almost immediately after she became queen. Although George IV and William IV had made extensive alterations to the palace, the work had never been finished. Large areas remained undecorated and many essential fixtures and fittings were still missing. The Throne Room became one of the busiest rooms in the palace. It was here that Victoria presented Honours, met with her Privy Council and even held balls.
