This account book demonstrates in Mary’s own hand her love of contemporary fashions. Dating from the period when she was living as Princess of Orange in the Netherlands, it gives details about Mary’s favoured garments, jewellery and accessories. This entry, which dates from January 1686, lists purchases of hair powder and English gloves as well as payments to the tailor and furrier.
