Queen Charlotte’s finger ring

c.1810

RCIN 52228

The gold setting of this ring has been chased at the shoulders, as was fashionable in the early nineteenth century. During the final illness of Queen Charlotte in 1818, she appears to have given the ring to Princess Mary, Duchess of Gloucester. The Duchess later presented it to her niece, Queen Victoria.
