Sir Elton John commissioned the image for the front cover of the Independent newspaper as guest editor of the paper on World AIDS Day, 1 December 2010. A limited edition of 100 prints was produced, with profits going to the Elton John Aids Foundation. The image was designed to recall the fragility and transience of life brought about by the AIDS pandemic.
