ANGELA KELLY

Dress, Coat and Hat

2012

RCIN 250393

Worn for the Thames River Pageant, part of the celebrations marking The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, 3 June 2012. For this dress coat and hat, Angela Kelly took as her inspiration the dress of Elizabeth I, which often featured white silks adorned with real jewels. The white bouclé wool of this dress and coat is woven with gold and silver thread and diamantés are added all over to catch the light. The upturned brim of the hat ensured that The Queen was visible to the hundreds and thousands of people lining the banks of the Thames and the overall white colour scheme stood out clearly against the strong reds lining The Queen’s boat, 'Spirit of Chartwell'.
