Contemporary red goatskin, with the cipher 'CR' below an enclosed crown tooled in gilt of Charles II, double fillet border containing a central panel of triple-fillet border with roll-tool, with decorations in the corners of a closed flower tool and to the sides with triangular tools of volutes, the spine in six panels all tooled in gilt, edges all gilt, comb-marbled end-leaves.
