DAVID LOGGAN (1633-92)

Charles II

c.1660-65

RCIN 602504

It is likely that Loggan was granted a sitting with Charles II and that his engraving is based on a detailed drawing from life. Charles is flanked by the English rose and Scottish thistle symbolising his legitimacy as the rightful monarch of both kingdoms.
