By the King and Queen: A Proclamation 1688/9
RCIN 1046706.g
This proclamation was issued following the declaration of William of Orange and his wife Mary as joint monarchs. It instructed those who already held political office to continue in them until they heard otherwise, so long as they were Protestant. It was usual at the beginning of a new reign to ensure by proclamation that the business of running the country would continue uninterrupted.
