PAUL SANDBY (1731-1809)

Part of Windsor from Datchet Lane

c. 1780

RCIN 914594

Datchet Lane extended south towards Windsor, passing along the north front of the Castle, seen here on the left. Sandby has carefully balanced the Castle buildings with those by the river, showing both soldiers and townspeople on the road at the centre.
